Pleasant surprise delivered by Romanian series producers
There’s a new Romanian series broadcasted by a certain TV channel called “Good guys”. It’s about the adventures of two policemen in the ever-flourishing world of the Romanian outlaws. It has everything, drugs, prostitution, kinky sex scenes and a huge quantity of Romanian humor. I actually thought it would suck but it’s great!

There’s of course a black policeman, called Edi Balan (Balan is something like White, so…), played by Cabral, local TV star, and his partner whom he of course arrests while working undercover. And the English of one of the bad guys (played by a great actor and singer) is actually delicious! Very bad accent, English words mixed with Romanian – mostly cursing and swearing – and the Romanian street-wise attitude! Delicious!!!

Obviously, it is copied – mostly influenced by the American series – but it has something very genuinely local that makes it so good!

Apart from the direct irony which breaks the mood (the black police officer is called "Balan" - White) and some false situations (in ROmania, there are no "detectives" in the Police), the movie is boring and the few actors that play are not credible, because viewers remember them from other embarrassing situations (Calinescu had different TV shows, Banica Jr. is a rocker etc.).

A corny copy of even "cornier" American cop movies.

Actually, people seem to like it and to find it quite credible, especially when it comes to Banica Jr. It's not like he's a singer, so he sould never try anything else ever! The show is not perfect, I agree, they have a lot to learn indeed. But its entertaining enough and far better than other movies. For a 50 minutes show it has more funny situations and better dialogue than huge budget productions such as Pacifier and Hitch. And if you want a taste of a really bad movie, try Dracula 3000! Compared to it, this is great. And it beats Indian movies and telenovelas by far!
