Software purpose
"Programming today is a race between software engineersstriving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." -- Rich Cook

What do you think of this?

i would tend to agree, although i would like to modify the quote to say that some people are born idiots and others will practise as long and as hard as they can to do even better...

    mmm... don't know.

i think the universe's idiots are the same.... but more of them try to work with software than before , that is all.

i remember a time... when the only ones who ventured near a computer had to have some special training and the computers were as big as wardrobes! but now, 3 year olds have their own games on the pc... and they claim their computer time!

Good job! Great comment! ...To compare a three year old (who's playing his games on the computer) with an... 'Universe's idiot' (who's blogging)!!!...

    Bart, good point!

Yes, Doshar, computers and software are now seen as something that comes without need of knowledge. So maybe ignorance is the real cause.

Sphinx of Giza, I think the point was to prove the level of knowledge required to try to use software. Yes, a 3 year old can mess up a computer just because he is computer illiterate, not because he is an idiot. Speaking of idiots, if the universe's idiots are bloggers and you are wasting your time reading their idiot posts and comment, I have to ask who's the bigger idiot? I don't think you like the answer to that question, do you?

This may be tru sometimes, especially when software is meant to be use by masses.
