I've been researching this field a bit lately, so I thought some questions needed to be asked. Unified messaging means taking completely independent communication streams and mix them together to create a unique solution. For example you take phones, mobile phones, emails, chat windows and video conferences and offer them together. So when you log on, as an end user, to the email client offered by such a solution, you are also logged in to your instant messaging client and your phone numbers are also "on line".

Some of the real benefits? When a fax is sent to your phone line, you see it on your email. When you want to fax something, you don't need to go over to the fax, you just send an attachment by email. Or if an important email comes when you're no longer in the office, your mobile phone receives an sms notification. You could also use such a notification to set a meeting late in the evening, when no one reads emails. And the list can go on to right click an phone number in an email and automatically have it dialed, or to have a complete list of missed calls or voicemail on your email client.

Would you actually use such a solution? Do you think it would help make your work more efficient and would it actually save time? How long do you think it would take to get adjusted to all its features?

This is not my first time writing about digital photo frames. But I have discovered a new utility these gadgets entail. You know, when you go see friends who live far away and who you rarely get to see, they need a serious update on how your life has been. And what do you do then? Besides the nights when you stay up late chit chatting about everything that has happened, you need to show a lot of photos.

So what would your choices be? Carry your laptop with you? Too big...Carry a flash drive? That obliges them to have an available computer for you and prevents you from doing all the talking while sightseeing. Therefore a digital picture frame storing a few hundred photos might be helpful. It would make it all easy and take a lot less space when carried around.

There's this thing with photos and keeping them in a frame. It's nice to have a memory of a place you loved, a dear one, a crazy moment placed near you and be able to always look at it when you feel like it. It's an easy way to forget about stress, daily routine and other annoyances. If you are like me, you'd also prefer to have the photos changed once in a while, so that you don't get bored from seeing the same picture over and over again.

But changing photos is time consuming. I only take digital photos, so changing one would mean have it printed and then change the existing one. This in indeed an interesting gadget, a bit expensive if you asked me, but still, a new experience to try out.
