Easter thoughts
What is Easter, what is any holiday, apart from religion, culture and other such defining standard? Well, it is the time you spend with your family, with your loved ones. Those closest to your heart…

Didn’t do that. Work kept me away from my parents. K is in Turkey again, yes, exactly at this time…Well, I had all my friends from work. Not the colleagues, the customers :) and the guard boy that kept doing his tour every three hours…Oh and the taxi drivers, all of them asking: and you do not get to stay home? We were the only department working on Easter.

I hope this is the last important time of the year that I spend like this: alone, a bit lonely, and at work. It tires me so…Little rest due to holiday habits such as loud music, added stress by the fact I feel I’m the only one not sharing this holiday with anyone. The phone not ringing and displaying a certain number as often as I would want it to…

Yet overall it was better that expected…Kept myself entertained with Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and Something New. Oh, yeah, and the Pacifier again…And I had the fishes to feed! And a dog barked at me last night when going to work! A nice, sweet puddle wanted a piece of me. Something really wrong with this picture.

In the good news chapter, only one exam left for DeSales, less to read for the license exam and I actually started doing something for the license paper…Also these two nights at work were quite easy. That’s all for the Orthodox Easter!

Oh, and my huge office is really scary at times like these: 2 AM, no one else on two floors, most of it darkness…Did I ever mention I am terrified of horror movies and a colleague described some very scary scenes just before leaving me alone? Maybe I’ll write a horror story to scare my self with it :D

Oh, and HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Two-sided

The human psychic is created so that one accepts his/her limits and at the same time he/she does not want to hear anything about them, thus the existence of an internal cleavage, the existential tensions and a deep ambivalence in our being.

Quote from Hugues Draelants - Bavardages dans les salons du net

And another one:

One of culture’s functions is to create social connections; culture associates and differentiates. Culture allows people to recognize one another or not to recognize one another. Defining a culture is in sequence including and excluding. One defines him/herself in relation to something, one separates an “Us” as opposed to a “Them”, or draws a line, a frontier. This leads to cohesion.

In the same way, when using “I”, one discovers the dimension of a latent “Us”. The “I” is always included in a group, a class, a family, a registration, it carries its own personal identity […] The social connections are established at different levels of the global society, one’s identity is multiple.

Fundeni Institute of Oncology

What is oncology? The branch of medicine that deals with tumors, including study of their development, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Yes, that is correct, I am referring to cancer! Where in the world do you think a special Institute of Oncology would be placed in Bucharest? In a hospital one would consider the mother of all depressions. This choice for a disease where positive attitude and will to fight can sometimes make the difference between life and death…

The picture posted is the movie start make up look they have posted on their site. Still, it cannot completely hide the way it actually looks. It is placed on a terrifyingly lonely street, that gives you the impression you have reached the end of the city, or even worse the end of the world. If you come here at night, which was one of my times to come there, you feel you are trapped in a horror movie and you expect monsters to attach you. The only bright lights you can see are those of the hospital.

In day time it looks even worse…The ugly building, the unattended yard, the small, dark and plain awful hallways…And the terrible sound of crows and ravens flying around the hospital…An impossible atmosphere…but it suits the tears and sad, lost looks of those inside..

Intensive care…well, it looked quite nice. Of course the sheets were stained and they all looked very old! Of course the rooms look depressing enough to never want to get there! And of courser if you want to take a walk as recommended you don’t have that metal thing to hang your transfusion like bags and drag it around! You should carry them or have them carried by someone else!

In what bribes are concerned, it is a typical hospital: everyone wants a little something! If you can afford it, you pay, if you cannot, well, you’re at their mercy.

Well, where are the landscape architects and designers redecorating everything? Where are the psychologists and psychiatrists saying “Are you crazy, people?” Why is it that only high-class, no-one-can-afford-it, treat-only-certain-diseases clinics have the perfect look of a Western hospital?

Spring slowdown
I’ve entered this awful routine period that I am so sick and tired of! I get up, go to work, worry about everything that I an supposed to do and I am not doing…Well, such are my days. Kind of boring, no purpose, to motion, no motives and no shiny goals. Actually, they are all there, I just fail to see them for some reason.

I am a little behind with everything and I feel things slipping through my finger, getting lost, running away from me. I have no imagination, I have no determination and I would like to blame all this bad shape on spring…I would like to just get away somewhere for a few days, recharge my batteries and start over. Yet I am working on Easter and May 1st and after these days there is no point in getting away to anywhere.

But I do thank all countries celebrating Easter this weekend! Due to them, everything is quite quiet at work these days! At least that! Although not that refreshing…

I am trying hard to pull myself together, get my game back on, and it works for about 5 minutes! :D

Now playing, new favorite
Love Generation
From Jamaica to the world,
It's just love,
It's just love,
Yeah!

Why must our children play in the streets,
Broken hearts and faded dreams,
Peace and love to everyone that you meet,
Don't you worry,
it could be so sweet,
Just look to the rainbow, you will see
Sun will shine till eternity,
I've got so much love in my heart,
No-one can tear it apart,

Yeah,
Feel the love generation,
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Feel the love generation,
C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon yeah,

(Whistling.....)
Feel the love generation,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Feel the love generation,
Ooohhh yeah-yeah,

Don't worry about a thing,
It's gonna be alright,
Don't worry about a thing,I
t's gonna be alright,
Don't worry about a thing,
It's gonna be alright,
Gonna be, gonna, gonna, gonna be alright,

Why must our children play in the streets,
Broken hearts and faded dreams,
Peace and love to everyone that you meet,
Don't you worry, it could be so sweet,
Just look to the rainbow, you will see
Sun will shine till eternity,
I've got so much love in my heart,
No-one can tear it apart,

Yeah,

Relax, read a book, take a photo!

They had announced bad weather for the rest of the week, so I decided to make the most of yesterday's sun. So, after school, I took a long walk and stopped by Cismigiu Park to take some more photos of it and to spend some time reading.
Let me tell you that the park looks a lot better since they've refilled it with water. The lake was empty the last time I went there and it wasn't as fun. For more pictures, go to my other blog. After taking the photos, I read a little, then went on with my walk as I was supposed to meet Oana. She brought me my birthday present, the novel Memoirs of a Geisha. I've seen the movie, but let's face it, in most cases the book is better!
As for reading, right now I am devided between the people photography guide I got from my colleagues, DH Lawrence's Women in Love and some occasional reading for my license paper. Will be back with more details on both soon, I hope.

Horizon
Just when I thought I didn’t have it in my anymore, it came back for a few hours, to keep me company. I was enjoying my day, watching TV, when something suddenly drew my attention. A sound that made something in my brain sparkle, an idea…I suddenly understood the light bulb similarity…I stayed in bed a little longer, trying to watch my movie and forget about it…But simply couldn’t…So after tossing and turning for another 15 minutes, I jumped off of my bed, turned my computer one, opened a blank word document and wrote a 1.5 pages story…It felt great, I re-read it and still liked it, showed it to a friend, she also liked it…

It then stopped again, nothing else came to my mind, but I have different hopes now.

My BDaaaaayyyyyyy!

Well, the bowling session was great, no victims! And I got some amazing gifts: a perfume and a book about better taking photos of people (in English) from my colleagues; a lot more money than expected from my dad and grandmother, a blouse I really needed to match a skirt form tonight and gold earings from my mom and a phone from K. He knew my Connex/Vodafone card phone was almost dead, gone, burried...so he bought me an amazing new one. Samsung, as I am a big fan of the company lately...You can see all its features here.

I have spent today's morning in my favorite park, Cismigiu. I've been taking photos of it some time ago and have finished posting them, so feel free to also check my photoblog to see them. Today I've just enjoyed it, but will take more pictures soon, as the lake is up and running again. They dried it out this winter, dunno why, usually it is a skating attraction.

Other than that, I am looking forward for tonight's dinner...We're going to an Italian restaurant, called Quattro Stagioni!

Plan-like update

Reasons why you haven't seen me that much these days:

  • I've been to this 8 hour/day training followed by some 2-3 hours of my own job for 4 days in a row. When it finally finished I caught a terrible cold
  • I had another test this week...It never ends for me
  • I had a lots of plan to do

All the things I need to do this weekend and next week:

  • Do my cousin's English homework...:(
  • Go to Ploiesti and spend some time with my mom before my Bday - I made a huge scene when she told me she would not be home this weekend, crying like a baby and all, so she changed her mind...I still wonder how she manages to put up with me after all these years!
  • Bday party with colleagues from work - bowling and drinks on the menu! I've never played before and am terribly afraid will be dragged along by the ball...(to much cartoons watching) I've been warned that, given I am so tiny, I might be taken for the actual ball....It's gonna be fun all the way!
  • Romantic dinner with K on my actual birthday. It's a weekday this year, but I'll make it worth while anyway...
  • Bday party with friends consisting in dinner at a restaurant we like (it's name in English is bear-cub...)
  • Take another test :)

Will blog more, promise...Will read more of your blogs and post comments, promise!
